IDUG – EMEA – 1 week to go

November 6, 2011 9:10 am / 2 Comments / dangerousDBA

By this time next week I will be getting ready to sit in the first talk / lecture / seminar that is pre cert for DB2 9.7 LUW in the Clarion Congress hotel in Prague. This will be an interesting experience for me as  I have never travelled abroad as a single traveller! My Plan is also to attempt to fit in some certification exams, but the times avalible and the talks that I want to go and see make this look very difficult to do, as they are only going to be on:

  • Monday: 09:00 – 17:00
  • Tuesday: 08:00 – 17:00
  • Wednesday: 08:00 – 17:00
  • Thursday: 08:00 – 15:00
Which is when most of the talks are on and time available where there are no talks I bet they are going to be over subscribed! Looks like I might be asking for more money to go take my exams when I get home, disappointing.
But with that minor grumble out the way I am really looking forward to going, meeting my peers and generally seeing what is going on in the DB2 community at large my initial plans are to attend the following sessions in the DB2 LUW track:

Hopefully I will get to attend these, but as the email IDUG sent last week said “When creating your itinerary, give yourself a few session choices for each time slot” so fingers crossed.

I cant finish this article without a big thank-you to my CMTO Nilan Peiris for allowing me the time “off” to go to the conference  in this busy period (and stumping up the money) and Iqbal Goralwalla and Triton Consulting for enabling me to attend the conference at a much reduced price allowing me to attend the sessions on Friday.

Hope to see you there.

      Hi,
Nice to hear from you. Depends if I get time, I think I will have to miss talks to do them! Which as I said is a little rubbish.

      Cheers Phil
